Middlesex Water Company Announces $1.7 Million Water Main Relocation Project In Sayreville, NJ

ISELIN, N.J., (October 11, 2016) -- Middlesex Water Company (Nasdaq:MSEX), a provider of water and wastewater and related services primarily in New Jersey and Delaware, today announced its plans to invest $1.7 million in a water transmission main relocation project in the Borough of Sayreville to help further ensure continued reliability and water service quality to its customers in eastern and southern Middlesex County and a portion of Monmouth County, NJ.

Middlesex Water plans to install 1,500 feet of new 30-inch ductile iron water transmission main along Washington Road including the side roads of Sherwood Road, Warwick Road, Latham Circle and Burlington Road in Sayreville. To minimize inconvenience to residents and motorists, the Company is coordinating its work along Washington Road with a current project underway by the NJ Turnpike Authority.  The first phase of the project is expected to begin in early October and be completed by late November 2016.  The second phase is expected to commence in the Spring of 2017. The pipe relocation project is not expected to result in any interruption in water service.

Middlesex Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis W. Doll said, “As part of our commitment to diligent asset and risk management, we continue to focus on upgrading and replacing infrastructure where our detailed analyses identify a need.   Projects such as this contribute to our system-wide water delivery operations and the overall quality of utility service to our retail, commercial and wholesale customer base,” added Doll.

Main relocation work may result in construction equipment being visible along Washington Road and related construction noise between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Residents with questions about the project should call 800-549-3802 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.  Project updates can be found at http://www.Middlesexwater.com/about-us/water-for-tomorrow
